Finished Shooting

Finished Shooting

Today was the final day of shooting our documentary. I went to Wynwood to shoot a bit more footage at the matcha place after the interview and it ended up pouring all over me. Thank god I had a spare change of clothes in my car coincidentally. As for B Roll footage, I ended up shooting multiple time-lapses of the clouds shifting from east to west. Along with this, I also shot some time-lapses of people walking through the street entering the store since it's a public space. Inside Yoko Matcha, the manager helped me out by creating matcha on one of the tables. This allowed me to get several shots of the matcha being made which will help in the production segment of the documentary.

As far as footage, we have over 15 minutes worth of footage which we will condense into a five minute video. The majority of footage we have is from the interview, but we have plenty of B Roll footage to use throughout the documentary. This was a large worry for us and I'm glad we finally have it under control. As far as the next steps, editing will be our final journey since we completed the poster, social media site, and the footage.

Ideas for Editing Next Week

Ideas for Editing Next Week

As far as editing goes, I have come up with some ideas in regards to transitions. One transition I would really like to achieve is the sliding of a matcha drink into the focus and then this leads to the title of the documentary. Along with this, another idea I had for a transition would be a time-lapse in between segments which would create a scenic view for the viewer and further develop a tranquil theme to the whole documentary. I shot a really cool long shot of the clouds moving in front of the shop we interviewed with the drink in the middle third at a closeup. As for the music we will use while editing the piece, I have already hand-chosen 3 main tracks to use that are similar in theme but different in sound. One last transitional scene I want to integrate into our documentary is the use of nature. This would include sounds like birds chirping and water flowing. Not only would this audio further enhance the mood we want to invoke, but it would also help reduce the amount of noise pollution and fill it with something more peaceful.

Instagram Page

Finished the Instagram Page

After finally coming up with countless alliterations for Teatime episode's names, we have finally done it. Some of these include: Radiant Rasberry, Outstanding Oolong, Glamorous Green, Charming Chai, and a couple more. Along with this, we finally found a domain name that wasn't taken... TeaT1me. This allows the page to still be read as tea time as teatime and tea time were both taken. A large goal of ours was to make the page as aesthetically pleasing as possible. To do this, we posted each post in a specific format that allows our audience to digest the information faster by scrolling through without having to click on each individual photo. If they do click on each photo, they will be presented with information regarding that specific episode.

As far as information regarding the episode we are showcasing for the TV documentary, I still would like to add some teaser clips to the Instagram page to entice our viewers and pique their interest before it is released. This is a common strategy that is used around various television programs and works effectively to keep the consumers interested and always on their toes.

More Footage!

More Footage!

The more the merrier right! Today, I went to Wynwood and acquired some shots at the shop today. The shots I got were for B Roll footage and I used my Nikon camera to capture some clear, crisp shots. Some of these shots were done in a very aesthetic way that will help enhance the quality of the footage and make the documentary a lot more interesting by captivating the audience's attention. Something that I really wanted to do that I finally achieved was getting some nature shots. I got these nearby at a plantation that was growing some sort of plant. In the documentary, I can use this while discussing the creative process since the South Korean idea of obtaining footage via my friend was shut down since I have to obtain the footage myself. now that I have obtained the majority of the  B roll footage, I know I’ll have to Focus on obtaining the interviews since I need to start the editing process as soon as possible. Besides the interviews, I have nature shots, videos of tea, and varying B roll footage. some other shots I would like to get are some Time lapses because I’ve seen in many nature documentaries how well they work in creating a tranquil mood. I’ve already gotten a time-lapse of the sunset but I would like to get one of the people entering and leaving the store in Wynwood. I feel like this would be a great opening when I start talking about the history of the place.

Documentary Title

I am more than excited to announce that our documentary will be called teatime with the individual episode being named Mystical Matcha. The reason for this being that we want to create a very simple title but make sure the audience will remember the name of it. upon doing some research, I discovered that using alliteration within titles and sentences helps people remember things more easily. It also allows people to comprehend words more easily. This was checked bye looking up a research study that was done to see if alliteration was a good technique for memorization. In this study, participants were presented with sentences with and without alliteration. The results discovered that the use of alliteration helped both memorization and comprehension significantly which are two components we look for while using methods for the creation of our titles.

Font Style

As far as the font style for the documentary, we have decided to go with a fairy Japanese style font to fit the theme. The reason for this being that a Japanese style font would give the documentary a certain look we want to obtain. The look we are looking for is very aesthetic and we hope to invoke calm feelings to match the mood of the scene. I feel that Japanese styled font would create this mood and would enhance the overall feel to the film. I have downloaded the font onto my desktop but I need to figure out a way to use it during the editing process. I think that a way I could do this is that I can make each letter into a PNG if worst comes to worst and then paste each individual letter into the place I want it to be.
